Aviloo vs EV TrustSeal: Which EV Battery Test Do You Actually Need?
I run EV TrustSeal, so treat this comparison accordingly. What follows is accurate about both products, including the cases where Aviloo is the better choice for you, because a comparison that never recommends the competitor is not a comparison.
Aviloo vs EV TrustSeal is not really a contest between two versions of the same thing. They are built differently, for different situations. Here is how to work out which one your sale needs.
The short answer
If your car is a Tesla or a Polestar in Australia, or almost any major EV in the US, UK or Canada, and you want proof without a booking or a visit, EV TrustSeal is $99 and runs from your driveway.
If your car is any other make in Australia or New Zealand, or it is a plug-in hybrid, Aviloo through Test EV covers a far wider range of vehicles and a tester comes to the car. Expect somewhere around $175 to $200 and confirm directly.
Both produce a certificate with QR verification. The differences that matter are coverage, depth and what you have to do.
What Aviloo actually is
Aviloo is an Austrian battery diagnostics company with a considerably longer track record than mine, and they offer two tests.
The Flash Test uses a physical box connected to the vehicle's diagnostic port. It is stationary, takes about three minutes, and produces a certificate. In Australia and New Zealand it is delivered through Test EV, whose network of testers attends the vehicle. Their site describes the Flash Test as compatible with more than 95 per cent of plug-in vehicles, including plug-in hybrids, and says results are correlated against a database of over 500,000 tests.
On price, their site currently shows two different figures in different sections, from $175 in one place and starting at $200 in another. Confirm the current price with Test EV directly rather than relying on either number here.
The Premium Test records a complete charging cycle and produces a more detailed assessment including range estimates. Aviloo describes it as their end-customer product, and notes it can be used as objective proof in legal disputes. Availability varies by country, so check whether it is offered in Australia before assuming it is an option.
Aviloo publishes an accuracy statement: in at least 95 per cent of reference measurements, the maximum deviation of the SoH value does not exceed ±3 per cent. Their certificates carry a QR code resolving to the original digital version on Aviloo's site.
Give them credit where it is due. Eight years of testing, a large reference database, a published accuracy figure and cell-level analysis is a serious product.
What EV TrustSeal is
EV TrustSeal is a remote battery audit. There is no box, no tester and no appointment.
You connect your car's manufacturer account through a free read-only connection. You drive until the battery is under 20 per cent, press Start Audit, then plug in to home AC and charge to 80 per cent in one uninterrupted session. The audit ends itself at 80 per cent and your result arrives within hours. You pay the one-time $99 only when the result is ready to unlock.
The certificate is VIN-locked with a QR code linking to a live record, so a buyer verifies it independently at evtrustseal.com/verify/[certificate ID] rather than trusting a PDF you emailed them.
Coverage is the honest limitation. In Australia, Tesla and Polestar only. In the US, UK and Canada, 46 manufacturers including Hyundai, Kia, Volvo, Ford, Chevrolet, Rivian, Volkswagen, Nissan and BYD.

One note on that last row, because it is the row people misread. The two figures are derived and expressed differently and are not a like-for-like ranking. Treat them as each provider's own published statement.
When Aviloo is the better choice
I would point you to them in four situations.
Your car is not a Tesla or a Polestar and you are in Australia. This is the big one. My coverage here depends on what the Smartcar API supports in this market, and right now that is two brands. If you have a Kia EV6, an MG4, a BYD Atto 3 or an Ioniq 5 in Australia, I cannot audit it. Test EV state coverage of more than 95 per cent of plug-in vehicles.
You have a plug-in hybrid. I do not cover PHEVs. Aviloo does.
You want cell-level analysis, not just capacity. Their diagnostic port connection exposes individual cell voltages and lets them flag imbalance and anomalies. If you are buying rather than selling, or the car has a repair history you want examined, that depth is worth paying for.
You need it done in the next hour. A three-minute on-site test beats a charging session, assuming a tester is available near you.
When EV TrustSeal is the better choice
You do not want to arrange anything. No booking, no tester, no waiting for someone to be in your area. Test EV's coverage depends on their tester network reaching you; mine does not depend on geography at all.
You are outside the major metros. If a tester cannot easily get to you, a remote audit is not just cheaper, it is the only one that happens.
Price matters on the margin. $99 against $175 is not enormous, but it is real, and you pay nothing unless a result is produced.
You want a VIN-locked public record. Both offer QR verification. Mine ties the certificate to the vehicle identification number specifically, which matters when a buyer wants to confirm the certificate belongs to the car in front of them rather than a similar one.
The methodology difference, stated fairly
This is the part worth understanding, and I had to correct my own assumption about it while writing this.
The intuitive framing is that a box plugged into the car measures the pack directly while a remote audit just reads a number. That is not what is happening. Aviloo's certification page states that the calculation is based exclusively on data provided by the vehicle, evaluated by their algorithms using statistical and analytical models. Their page also notes that defects the vehicle does not report through the diagnostic interface, such as mechanical damage, cannot be detected. Both approaches work from what the car publishes.
The real differences are access and analysis.
Aviloo's box connects through the diagnostic port, which exposes parameters an API connection does not, including individual cell voltages. That lets them check for cell-level anomalies and imbalance, not just capacity, and they benchmark the result against a reference database they describe as exceeding 500,000 tests. That is a genuinely deeper inspection than mine, and I would not pretend otherwise.
My audit works through a manufacturer API connection and focuses on capacity. What Path Beta adds is a condition on when the reading is taken. It requires a minimum 60 per cent state of charge swing and measures across that swing rather than accepting whatever figure the car is currently displaying.
That requirement exists for a reason Aviloo also acknowledges: BMS-reported state of health is produced by manufacturer-specific algorithms and can read too high or too low. A BMS calibrates its capacity estimate against reference points near the top and bottom of the range. Charge only between 50 and 80 per cent for two years and it rarely sees those points, so the estimate drifts while continuing to look confident. I have watched a Model X read 89.9 per cent under those conditions and settle around 83 per cent once it was finally given a wide cycle. So the honest summary is this. Aviloo inspects more parameters and benchmarks against more vehicles. I control the conditions under which the capacity reading is taken, and I do it without anyone attending your car. Both are considerably better than the app screenshot most sellers currently rely on, which is why buyers discount self-reported figures.
